Alexander Mikhailovich Anissimov - is the chief conductor and artistic director of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, Honoured Figure of Art of the Russian Federation, the laureate of the Russian National Theatre Award “Golden Mask”, the laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, the recipient of the medal of Francysk Skaryna, People’s Artist of Belarus, Principal Conductor (conductor emeritus) of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the chief conductor of the Samara State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Doctor of Music “Honoris Causa” of the National University of Ireland, the President of the Wagner Society of Ireland, Commander of the National Order of Merit of the Republic of the French Republic.
A.M. Anissimov was born in Moscow. He graduated the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory from the class of choir conducting and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory from the class of opera and symphony conducting.
Over the years of work in the National Academic Big Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus and in The Belarusian State Philharmonic Society A. Anissimov has presented to the public of Belarus and abroad the best pieces of the classical heritage and premiers of new works. Among them: M. Glinka "Ivan Susanin", P. Tchaikovsky "The Nutcracker", "Iolanta", A. Borodin "Prince Igor", J. Bizet "Carmen", J. Semenyako "New Earth", E. Glebov "Kurgan", "Master and Margarita", V. Soltan "King Stakh's Wild Hunt", S. Prokofiev "Maddalena"; symphonies by L.van Beethoven, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninoff, S. Prokofiev, D. Shostakovich; orchestral pieces by R. Strauss, R. Wagner, H. Mahler, G. Gershwin , M. Ravel; the first performances of music by D. Smolsky, A. Mdivani, V. Kuznetsov, G. Gorelova.

The Student Symphony Orchestra of the Belarusian State Academy of Music under his direction has prepared programs for performances on the stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Maestro toured extensively. His most significant works are: “Boris Godunov” in Komische Oper, “Prince Igor” in Houston and Marseilles, “War and Peace” in San Francisco, “André Chénier” in Adelaide, “Don Carlos” in Genoa, “Madame Butterfly” in Saint-Petersburg (Mariinsky Theatre), “Eugene Onegin” in Moscow (Bolshoi Theatre) and in Opera Bastille (Paris), “The power of fate” in Hamburg State Opera. In 2002, the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and the international composition of soloists under A. Anissimov direction presented the audience of Ireland (Limerick) and England (Birmingham) a concert performance by R. Wagner “The Ring of the Nibelung” in 4 evenings. The firm Naxos has released all the symphonies by S. Rachmaninov (National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland), all the symphonies by A. Glazunov (Moscow Symphony Orchestra) and the opera “The Demon” by A. Rubinstein under the baton of A. Anissimov. In 2004 the firm EMI has released a DVD recording of the first edition of the opera “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District” by D. Shostakovich under the baton of Maestro Anissimov (the performance Liceo, Barcelona).
