Myron Walden (saxophone, USA)

and The New York Quartet of Ark Avrucki

The season of jazz evenings 2017 comes to the end with the project "International Jazz in Minsk" with a concert of modern stars of the New York scene Ark Ovrutski New York Quartet with the participation of the Grammy winner saxophonist Myron Walden. This time the jazz music of such level will be presented for the first time on 2 December in Gomel! And already on 3 December traditionally in the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society!

The contrabass player and composer Ark Ovrutski and his original project will present a new programme On The Way which recently was recorded in Big Apple Studios.

On the one part musical works of Ark Ovrutski organically fit into modern style of the younger generation of American jazz musicians, who set today trend in the New York jazz scene (Ben Wendel, Cory Henry, Marquis Hill, etc.).

On the other part the influence of the all-stars quintet V.S.O.P. of the second half of the 1980s is felt in new music. This happened for a reason of the many years close communication of author with the living jazz legend and one of the participants of the famous ensemble the contrabass player Ron Carter.

The fourth album in Ovrutski's discography can be considered a successful attempt to find his own style in the genre variety of the New York improvisatory scene. For several years Ark Ovrutski has been playing together with each of the New York Quartet partners, but for the first time he managed to put together all the ensemble members on the same stage.

Musicians:

Ark Ovrutski – double bass, musical work

Walden began his professional career with a big band of Roy Hargrove at the Jazz Gallery in 1995 and then he performed in Smalls with such artists as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Eddie Henderson, Kevin Hayes, Stephen Scott, Gregory Hutchinson and Eric Harland. Walden basically played his own original compositions with Apex Trio (McPherson, Brno, Walden) and recorded 4 solo albums between 1996 and 2005. Another member of the quartet is a New York drummer Charles Goold who is a stage partner of Tony Bennett, John Hendrix, Ne-Yo and Steve Nelson. Minsk music lovers had a time to appreciate his skills during the concert of pianist and vocalist Johnny O'Neill in October 2017.

Pianist Willerm Delisoft also had a time to please Minsk in a joint performance with Brian Carter (drums, vocal) in September 2017. Masterful mastery of a variety of musical genres (jazz, gospel, R&B, etc.) made him a much-needed musician in the United States. He was invited to record and perform by such different musicians as, on the one hand jazz legends Louie Bellson and Curtis Fuller, and on the other hand rapper T-Pain. And also Liu Soloff, Jimmy Heath, David Sanchez, Jevon Jackson, Peter Erskine and many others.
