On February 18, 2026, the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic will host a concert dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Mikhail Pavlovich Drinevsky’s birth. The concert program will feature songs arranged by Drinevsky, his favorite works from the choir’s repertoire, and new pieces created by the maestro’s followers.
Mikhail Pavlovich’s work has become a cultural asset for the National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after G.I.Tsitovich and the country as a whole. He made a significant contribution to the development of Belarusian folk song, continuing the traditions established by Tsitovich and preserving the uniqueness of its sound.
His approach to music was a philosophy: to truly create, one must selflessly love folk song, its history, and its soul. And it was precisely this deep feeling that allowed Drinevsky to live his art to the fullest, imbuing every bar with it.
Drinevsky brought the choir to a new professional level of a cappella performance of folk songs and sacred works. Thanks to his professionalism, the choir performed at international professional competitions and received the honorary title of “national.”
Mikhail Pavlovich has been gone for five years now, but he continues to live in every song, to love through the music he gave us, and to create together with the choir, whose voice forever retains a piece of his soul.
