The world star of the performing arts, People’s Artist of Russia Friedrich Lips, in a concert of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus on November 23!
It is a tradition to open a concert season spectacularly and with brilliance. And that is exactly what the State Chamber Orchestra intends to do as it begins its 55th (anniversary!) season.
Effectiveness and brilliance will be provided not only by the program of the evening, but also participation in a concert of the world famous musician – Friedrich Lips (Russia).
Friedrich Lips has performed at the world’s great halls, among them the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Lincoln Center (New York), the Kennedy Center (Washington) and the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam). His stage partners have included Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Jurowski and Yo-Yo Ma.
Friedrich Lips was the first performer of over 80 pieces for the button accordion. Sofia Gubaidulina, Edison Denisov, Roman Ledenev, Efrem Podgaits, Mikhail Bronner, Alexander Zhurbin and other composers have dedicated their compositions to him. Friedrich Lips’ discography includes 40 albums released in Russia, the USA, Japan, Austria, Germany and Sweden. The disc of Gubaidulina’s Partita Seven Words was awarded the Diapason d’Or and was named the best album of 1991.
It is no exaggeration to say that the creative work of Friedrich Lips has shaped the development of the modern art of playing the button accordion.
The orchestra’s chief conductor Evgeny Bushkov has chosen the following works:
– Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.10 for String Orchestra (a juvenile work, but written with impeccable skill, mature beyond its years, light and perfect, evoking analogies with Mozart’s work);
– showy Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No.1 for String Orchestra and Obligate Piano (soloist – Marina Romeiko);
– Bronner’s Seven Jewish Songs for button accordion and string orchestra (soloist – Friedrich Lips).
