His music became a symbol of the 1960s. At that time, Yevgeny Glebov was the most famous Belarusian composer in the USSR. His works were performed in films and on stage, on the stages of academic theaters and circus arenas. And in the following decades, the composer’s melodies found a wide response in the hearts of millions of people. He is the author of music for such famous films as “The First Tests” (1960), “Beloved” (1965), “Sasha-Sashenka” (1966), “The Last Summer of Childhood” (1974), “Last Year’s Quadrille” (1978), “The Wild Hunt of King Stakh” (1979) and many other feature, documentary and animated films. His songs “My Home is the Capital”, “White Sail”, “Golden Autumn”, “The Baby Wants”, “Summer Thunderstorm”, as well as the instrumental pieces “Musketeers”, “Clowning”, Adagio from the ballet “The Little Prince” have become classics of Belarusian music of the 20th century.
On November 6, 2024, the National Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus named after I.Zhinovich will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the birth of this outstanding composer with a concert “Melodies of Destiny”. He collaborated with the orchestra named after I.Zhinovich throughout his entire creative path, and this is almost half a century! After all, it was the first director of the orchestra, conductor and composer Iosif Zhinovich who first discovered the name of Evgeny Glebov for Belarus in the early 1950s, noticed and supported the talented young man, gave him a path to the profession.
The anniversary memorial concert will feature the best hits of Evgeny Glebov from different years. All these melodies – both vocal and instrumental – are widely known in Belarus, even those who are far from music know them. They were performed by famous artists and numerous amateur groups. The music of Evgeny Glebov has truly become a national treasure!
The concert dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarus Evgeny Glebov will be a great musical offering to our fellow countryman.
