Since the days of Dizzy Gillespie, hot Cuban music has been an integral part of his majesty jazz. In his United Nation Big Band, the great maestro assembled musicians from Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Each of them went on to develop their own direction and take their rightful place in jazz history. And Cuban rhythms, along with traditional swing, have become the epitome of modern jazz. Hits such as “Caravan”, “I Remember April”, “Bolivia”, “Green Dolphin Street” and others inherit elements of Cuban music.

Cuban singer Iliana Sanchez, accompanied by the Ark Ovrutsky Quartet, will perform a new program consisting of such world famous American jazz standards as “What a Wonderful World”, “It Don't Mean a Thing”, “Feeling Good” as well as hits of classical and contemporary Cuban jazz music “Bessa Me Mucho”, “Quizas”, “El Cantante”, “Que Te Pedi”, “Bemba Colora”, etc.

Iliana Sanchez (Cuba) – finalist of “The Voice” and “New Wave” shows, sought-after singer and actress, has a velvet mezzo-soprano and attractive charisma.

Ark Ovrutsky is a contrabassist, composer and bandleader, winner of jazz festivals and author of many international jazz projects. He is considered one of the best jazz bassists and double bassists not only in the CIS, but also in the USA. He has collaborated with Carmen Lundy, Mark Soskin, Steve Williams, Larry Willis, Javon Jackson, Steve Slagle, J.D.Walter, Duduka da Fonseca, Michiel Borstlap, Cynthia Scott, Jim Rotondy, Donald Edwards, James Spalding and many others. He completed his post-graduate studies at Rutgers University (USA) and his doctorate on the double bass at the University of Illinois. He has recorded four solo albums with such musicians as Duduka da Fonseca, Craig Handy, Elio Alves and Michael Dees. Album reviews have been published by DownBeat, AllAboutJazz.com, The New York City Jazz Record, Cadence and many others.
