Valentin Lakodin is a jazz vocalist and contrabassist, representative of the new generation of Russian jazzmen. He is a laureate and diploma-holder of vocal competitions “Voice of Petrojazz” (2nd prize), “You are the Star” (diploma); he took part in TV show “Voice” and so on. In the performing manner of the artist organically combines traditions of jazz and soul music of such performers as Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Joe Williams, Stevie Wonder, and many others.
The style of Valentin Lakodin’s jazz band is the swing jazz of the 60s and the drive of soul, rhythm and blues and funk. The ensemble is based in Moscow, constantly performing at famous venues such as Igor Butman’s Club, Essay, Composers’ Union, Tsaritsino Museum-Reserve, BB King, and many others. The musicians have performed at such festivals as Arkhangelsk Blues, Jazz May (Penza), Rabarbra Jam (Norway) and Jazz Jazz Jazz Jab. (Norway), “Jazz Voices” (Moscow), “Jazz-Mar” (Naryan-Mar), “Small Jazz Festiva” (Smolensk).
