A concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Shurman will take place on March 30, 2025 in the Great Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic.
Leonid Shurman (1950–2023) was remembered as a talented composer, songwriter, performer, and arranger. He devoted more than half a century to the main work of his life – music. His creative legacy includes more than 450 songs and instrumental pieces, most of which are performed by Belarusian pop artists and various musical groups in the country. The repertoire of the Belarusian State Folk Music Ensemble “Svyata” alone includes more than 20 of his works.
A graduate of the Belarusian State Conservatory in the accordion class, Leonid Shurman made a significant contribution to the development of domestic performing arts. It is noteworthy that in the song “Broken off a few branches” the accordion of the joker Vaska, the hero of Nikolai Karachentsov from the Belarusfilm hit “White Dews”, was voiced by Leonid Shurman.
For his active professional work, the composer was awarded the medal “For Labor Merit” (2015). In 2020, he became a member of the Belarusian Union of Composers.
