Limitless possibilities of classical music – a drama with an optimistic ending, a dance extravaganza and a thriller with horror elements – in the next concert of the “Classics for All” cycle of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra!
In the program:
– Brahms’ first Piano Concerto is a work of symphonic proportions, echoing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
– “Sunny Dances” is the best characteristic of Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No.1. Created on the basis of Romanian folklore, rhapsody paints a picture of a folk festival. It is not for nothing that at the beginning of the work a song is quoted with the “talking” title “I have a leu and I want to drink it” (“leu” is the national currency of Romanians).
– And finally, Bartok’s “The Miraculous Mandarin” is a work whose title would be more correctly translated as “The Monstrous Mandarin”. This is a surreal thriller with horror elements, telling the chilling story of the seduction and murder of a high-ranking Chinese official in Paris (in Europe they were called “mandarins”).
