In the first concerto for the organ in the season along with the acclaimed works of recognized classics and contemporary writers, Gabriel Faure's Requiem will sound - a work in many respects unique. Perhaps, this is the only work of the "doleful genre", which doesn't accent the listener's attention on the image of death and scenes of the Last Judgment. The main idea is Faith, Calm, Peace and Love, and the image of death is perceived as a long-awaited deliverance, a transition to the very highest spheres, about which philosophers of all the times and peoples to dream.
This service is completely devoid of a touch of gloom: instead of a sense of death, we are offered a sense of peace, instead of gloomy sorrow - light sadness, instead of the image of hell - the images of Paradise, and hope instead of hopelessness.
It turned out to be a very light openwork design in the form of a pyramid leaving to the sky beyond the clouds, the unattainable peak of which symbolizes the power, strength and wisdom of the Almighty, and base is the path of everyone in the comprehension of this wisdom.
One of the composer's contemporaries for it is said:
"Faure created a unique in its own way the Requiem, which takes us away from the fear of death to the realm of sensitive clarity and perfect happiness".
