The classical music festival “In Shemetovo at Shostakovich’s” is dedicated to the outstanding classical composer of the twentieth century, the great maestro Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich (1906–1975), who has Belarusian roots. All ancestors of the musical genius, up to his great-grandfather Pyotr Mikhailovich Shostakovich (1808–1871), lived near the village of Shemetovo, which is located in Myadel district of Minsk region.
The festival has been held since 2016 and is a significant cultural event for the Naroch region and for Belarus. In 2023, festival concerts will be held in Shemetovo, Myadel, Naroch, Molodechno, Slutsk and Minsk.
