Novosibirsk people have a special attitude to Belarus. At the time of Stolypin’s reform, natives of Belarusian settlements went to develop the Siberian lands. Not every settler was able to take root in our harsh conditions. There were those who understood the meanings of our harsh territory and formed a true Siberian character. Today traditions and culture of Belarusians have become a part of the genetic code of Siberians. We know of settlements founded by Belarusians that have become part of the Novosibirsk Oblast. One of such settlements is Otvazhenka – a name that characterises the strength of character and steadfastness of the Belarusians.

During the Great Patriotic War more than two thousand inhabitants of Belarus, including the troupe of the Belarusian Drama Theatre named after A.V.Lunacharsky found shelter and support of Siberians. Novosibirsk citizens warmly welcomed the evacuees and showed the liveliest participation in their fate.

The war took the life of every third inhabitant of Belarus, but even the republic, drenched in the blood of millions of people, plundered and half-destroyed, did not surrender. In the defence and liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders took part the compounds formed in the Novosibirsk region. More than forty Novosibirsk residents were honoured with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their liberation and heroism.
As part of the Days of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region in the Republic of Belarus, the State Academic Siberian Russian Folk Choir presents the concert programme ‘Tribute to the Feat’ as a tribute to gratitude and admiration for the steadfastness of the Belarusians and the selflessness of the Siberians who fought for the liberation of the brotherly people. This is our opportunity to confirm by artistic means the uniqueness of the unity of Siberian and Belarusian mentality, their special strength, steadfastness and optimism. A symbol of eternal memory of the events that connected the two nations.

“Siberian Volnitsa” is a unique cross-section of the cultural traditions of the Cossacks of Siberia, the author's understanding of the process of influence of the traditional culture of the peoples of Siberia on the formation and development of the Cossacks.
Through artistic images and performances, the creative team conveys to the audience the longing of the Cossacks for separation from their small homeland, the courage of conquering new territories and the free character of those who came from different parts of Russia to the Siberian land. By combining the historical past, contradictory present and unexplored future, the authors of the programme manage to reveal the foundations of the origin and development of traditional Siberian Cossack culture.
