For the first time in Belarus, a symphonic poem by contemporary Israeli composer Baruch Berliner will be performed on December 25 “Genesis” – sevenfold cosmogony on the texts of the Torah which tells about the stages of divine providence and the world order, imaging the central events of the first chapters of the book “Existence”: “First day of Genesis creation”, “Creation of Adam and Eva”, “The Expulsion from the Garden of Eden”, “Сain and Abel”, “Noah”, “Flood” и “The rainbow covenant”.

Baruch Berliner says: “I wanted to take the Bible closer to the listener, give him a chance to hear the Divine word in an accessible form. Creating a man in his own image, God has given us a choice between good and evil. Our goal - make the right choice in life. This is the main motive of my composition”.

The concert will also feature the most famous work in the cantata-oratorio genre of Leonardo Bernstein – “Chichester Psalms” for soloist, choir and orchestra. This monumental masterpiece based on the texts of the Psalms of David was written in 1965. Its name he received in honor of the choir of the Cathedral city of Chichester in England, for which Bernstein wrote the composition.

“Chichester Psalms” — a type of mix of academic music with elements of jazz, rock and smash hits because Bernstein was an experimental musician. This score also includes Negro folklore and old Jewish chants.
