Symphony season closing is an action of special responsibility. It is necessary to charge music lovers so that they are looking forward to meeting the classics after the summer break.
The State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and its chief conductor Alexander Anisimov have been successfully solving this problem for many years. This year will not be an exception – the orchestra has prepared a real musical feast for its audience.
On June 15, the Belarusian State Philharmonic will host the final concert of the Rachmaninov+ cycle, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
The orchestra will perform Symphony No.1. Sergei Rachmaninov’s first symphony was performed only once during his lifetime – in 1897 in St.Petersburg. The composer was then 22 years old. The symphony failed, and Rachmaninov imposed a ban on its performance and destroyed the score. Half a century later, the work, based on the surviving fragments of the musical text, was restored and triumphantly returned to concert life.
Today, Symphony No.1 is ranked among Rachmaninov’s masterpieces; it is included in the repertoire of the best orchestras in the world. And the fact that it doesn't sound often only adds to its value.

In the second part of the festive program, the audience will hear the Cello Concerto by E.Elgar performed by the brilliant soloist of the St.Petersburg Music House Alexander Ramm, who is rightfully one of the most gifted and sought-after cellists of his generation.
