The cycle of songs “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”)

The return of the programme created by V. Mulyavin and the Ensemble “Pesnyary” in 1991 on the 100th anniversary of Maxim Bogdanovich.

The premiere of the cycle “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) took place in New York on October, 31 in 1991 in the Library of the United Nations. After the return from the United States of America the program of the ensemble “Pesnyary” was shown on the stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society on December 9 in 1991, on the 100th anniversary of Maxim Bogdanovich. The “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) was never performed again in full version. The
printed music material of the program hasn’t remained. Only two songs from this remarkable cycle such “Slutsk weavers” and “Lyavonikha” became known with time. Another two songs by Maxim Bogdanovich have a great popularity in Belarus: “Veronika” by I. Luchanok and “Zorka Venera” by S. Rak-Mikhailovsky. Above mentioned songs became the classics of the singing stage way before the appearance of the “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”). That is why V.G. Mulyavin included them in this program.

The admirer of the “Pesnyary” Vladimir Poznyak (Moscow city) has in a private collection a unique audio recording which was made from the rehearsal of the program “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) on the stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society in August, 1991. Today this record is the only authoritative source that gives a better and full understanding of the program “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”). The honored artist of the Republic of Belarus, an arranger of the orchestra, Alexander Kremko makes a musical arrangement of all 15 songs of the cycle “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) on the ground of digitized tape which stands for National Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus named after I. Zhinovich. For the first time the program “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) will be shown in full version in Minsk on December, 10, 2017 how it was conceived by author V.G. Mulyavin, after the exclusive performance in December 1991.

The premiere of the programme took place on the square near the Minsk City Hall on September, 9, 2017 and was time bound to the celebration of the 950th anniversary of the capital of the Republic of Belarus.

Together with the preparation for the performance of the program “Vyanok” (“The Wreath”) the work is proceeding on the compact disk release with record of a cycle performed by ensemble “Pesnyary”. Such admirers of the art of the ensemble “Pesnyary” from Russia as inhabitants of Moscow Evgeny Salamatin, Vladimir Poznyak and the founder of the site “Virtual Museum of ensemble Pesnyary” (http://www.vma-pesnyary.com) from Nizhny Novgorod Dmitry Terekhin are preparing the mastering and multipage booklet of disk. The release of the disk is timed to September, 9, 2017. The edition is realized by the Minsk firm “Kovcheg”.
