On 18 December, the Small Hall named after G. Shirma of the Belarusian State Philharmonic will host a concert of the Academic Choir of the National State TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus, a Honoured collective of the Republic of Belarus, entitled “Choral Christmas in Jazz Style”.
In new jazz arrangements well-known Christmas melodies and traditional Belarusian carols will be filled with even more emotion and poetry!
For the first time the Academic Choir will perform a new work by conductor and composer Andrei Savritsky “Mass” in 6 parts for mixed a capella choir and a soloist-discant. The cycle is filled with jazz harmonies and rhythms and is rich in sound and imaginative techniques. The canonical form of the mass in A.Savritsky’s interpretation acquires a new content enriched with elements of gospel and blues genres. In the programme: works by V.Miskinis, R.Thompson, F.Mercury, N.Dranitsyn, popular jazz arrangements of Christmas melodies.
In new jazz arrangements, well-known Christmas melodies and traditional Belarusian carols will be filled with even greater emotionality and poetry!
Honoured Collective of the Republic of Belarus The Academic Choir of the National State TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus is one of the oldest choir collectives in Belarus, established in 1931. From 1965 to 2007 the permanent director of the collective was the People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarus, Professor Viktor Vladimirovich Rovdo. Under his leadership a great number of recordings of music of different epochs, styles and genres were made. Numerous concerts, tours, participation in national and international music festivals and competitions. The choir is currently directed by Andrei Savritsky, a pupil of the Belarusian school of choral conducting, a young talented composer, arranger and conductor.
Among the most outstanding projects of the last decade are Disney Tour (2016), World of Hans Zimmer (2018, 2019, 2020, conducted by Gavin Greenaway, UK), participation in the recording of the Rammstein album (2019) by the band of the same name, collaboration with composer Ennio Morricone, performances with the show programme “Music of Computer Games”, “Songs of Victory” and many others.
