“LEV ABELIOVICH. 111”
Deep spirituality and emotional sublimity, subtle lyricism and heightened tragedy, freshness and modernity of the musical language characterize the music of Lev Abelovich.
The composer’s work has become a striking phenomenon of Belarusian musical culture; his compositions are included in the repertoire of leading performers and groups in our country.
Lev Abelovich’s most popular work was the Aria for violin and chamber orchestra, but in addition to this masterpiece there is a large amount of magnificent music worthy of the best concert venues.
Despite his fame as a symphonist, Lev Abelovich was essentially a chamber composer, as evidenced by the concert-instrumental interpretation and gradual chamberization of his major orchestral works. It is in chamber instrumental and vocal music that the characteristic features of Abeliovich’s style are formed.
The versatility of the images and the close connection with folklore origins immediately attracted the attention of the musical community, and already the first instrumental and vocal opuses earned high praise from their contemporaries.
The concert on December 9 will feature the brightest pages of the piano and chamber instrumental heritage of Lev Abeliovich, performed by Ivan Finsky (piano), Tatyana Kim (piano), Dmitry Yarotsevich (clarinet), Maria Pishchik (violin) and string quartet.
Romances and choral miniatures based on poems by Maxim Bogdanovich, Maxim Tank and Yakub Kolas will be presented by the State Chamber Choir of the Republic of Belarus and soloists of the collective.
Artistic director and conductor – Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Mikhailova.
