On November 18, “Sisters from Paradise”, a musical and dramatic mystery by Valery Voronov, will be performed.
Recently written essay is dedicated to two heroines – Sophie Scholl (executed in 1943, a student of the University of Munich, a member of the underground anti-Nazi organization “White Rose”) and Jeanne d’Arc.
“Sisters from Paradise” will come to life in sounds and light – a unique multimedia rock space created by the composer. The sounding image of the mystery will be woven by a chamber orchestra, piano, organ, percussion instruments, electric guitar, as well as a human voice – Belarusian poet, actress, singer and theater director Svetlana Ben will voice the texts of Joseph Brodsky, Sophie Scholl, Simone Weil, her own compositions, excerpts from the interrogation protocols of Joan of Arc (1431), from the leaflets of the White Rose (1943).
The essay was written within the framework of the “composer-in-residence” project The State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus.
