"Carmen Suite"

Conductor Misha Katz (France)

The unique story of the conductor Misha Katz formed the basis for the monoplay of the Israel playwright Leon Agulyansky. They met in 2008 at the Mikhoels Festival in Moscow. Maestro Katz performed "Carmen Suite" with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. "My life turned in another direction, - Leon Agulyansky said in an interview, - I left the Hall not as a religioner, but devout believer, because I had witnessed the Miracle".

Later, in conversations after the concerts of Misha Katz, when blood and flesh were still imbued with the genius sound of music, Leon gleaned the history of the great conductor. Therefore was created a play in which pain, despair and rejection of worldly goods for the sake of happiness to hear and rise towards the Light.

The world-famous conductor Leonard Bernstein, previously teacher of Maestro Katz, commented on the conductor's art of his pupil: "Such a profound understanding of music can only be explained by the divine gift". In the work with the orchestras of the world, a unique conductor's approach of Misha Katz is shown. Ideal technical "sterile" performance is unacceptable for him. Accent, pause, "shamanism", the search for the divine and personal in the work make this maestro's concerts an Event, part of the fate of performers and the public.

Actor and director Valery Anisenko didn’t immediately turned attention to the play of Leon Agulyansky. But years have passed before he declared: "This is my story! ". Now the play "Conductor", premiered in Belarus and Israel, was defined by the director as a confession of Valery Anisenkо.

Ten years have passed since that fateful performance of "Carmen Suite" in Moscow. Maestro Katz promises a different sound, another interpretation, energy. Perhaps, someone else's life will change after the applause has subsided. But first the story, which bonded fates of creators and which impossible to forget, will sound from the stage and will go to the hall.
